Still no definite word on how the oil spill might impact the hunting season frameworks... current information suggests that regulatory restrictions on waterfowl hunting are unnecessary, but FWS is "very concerned" about the short and long term impacts...

Just read on Yahoo, that the oil is now practically gone due to oil eating microbes in the water and evaporation. It said that the dispursment even allowed the microbes to eat it faster since they eat the small globules of it faster than the bigger slicks. It said that the Gulf has a very high concentration of the microbes and that where there is lots of oil and the condition as it is now, that the microbes begin to multiply fast. It said that they can eat approx 40-50% of an oil spill in only a few months! We may be OK by November!!!! At least there is not a thick slick to be found in the marshes anymore!!! The Pintails, teals, gadwall, redheads, mottleds and cans should be OK!!!!! No food, but OK!!!!

sounds like a crock to me.

I also saw this report on CNN. Kinda mind blowing that it is all pretty much gone from the surface if it stands true. But one thing is for sure, you don't see the media showing the slicks anymore or the oil drenched birds so it might just happen to be true.

While I'm not sure Louisiana Sportsman is the most credible, scientific source out there, I have heard these same words straight from LDWF.

I mean, I don't think a person would want to put their dog into that stuff anyway... but you know somebody is going to try it and then file a lawsuit against the State

Yep, My dog aint goin into that marsh till I step in it in my waders and come up with pure mud, NOT oily mud!!! I could just see that, licking himself clean and eating all that oil!!!

Slick maybe gone but ther is still oil somewhere ...seabed or deeper depths ....its starting to show up on the beaches again down round Cola to Destin ...talk to friend last night said it was all over the beach again.....we were there this past weekend Sat did not see much Sunday was some on shore tar balls and trash plastic of anykind will have oil on it.....also the shells that my picked up we brought home ....thought that some of them were just a little dirty come to find out that all of them had some oil film on them of some sort........................................................................
