i was there. the guy said that it "popped out of gear." upon further investigation, once the truck was pulled, i determined that it was still in reverse.

Nice cleaning bill for him I'm sure. Saw a girl almost do that to her Ford Expedition at the boat ramp at Tommy's Trading Post last summer. The water came over the tail lights but she somehow gassed it back up the ramp.

Most entertaining place on the lake is by far, the boat ramp.

I was at a local ramp one year and witnessed a truck roll down the ramp. It was a 90s model single cab long bed chevy. The truck rolled back and floated up then twisted and sunk. It wasn't 100%, but the cab was halfway full. Local green jeans hooked up the winch and winched him out. I'm guessing that's the main purpose why they mount winches on their trucks?

I lived in Panama City Florida for about 4 years. I typically didnt even take the boat out for holiday weekends due to the crowds. One year on memorial day we went and took a lunch, drinks and lawn chairs and watched the St. Andrews State Park boat ramp. One of the most entertaining days of my life. Watched a drunk guy on a jet ski miss the trailer by two feet and slide up the ramp about 7 feet, leaving a trail of fiberglass.

amen. some of my relatives have a tough time launching/putting boat on trailer. i can do it by myself in about a minute but i've seen them try for at least 20 before getting it right. kinda funny if your watchin but embarrassing if your with them and people are watching you...

Does it really take scuba gear to hook up the tow cable to a truck just off the ramp in a lake?

I think the scuba diver was called in to find the boat (or jet ski i think it was)

This happened to a guy I know a few years back. It was an early 90's model Ford. It actually did come out of gear somehow. When they pulled it out and looked, it was still in Park.

Buddy of mine witnessed a guy up at Pickwick a few years back who had just got a new ski boat (evidently his first) running around hollerin for help cause his boat was sinkin when he lauched it. he had backed down the ramp, unhooked the trailer from the truck and let er go, with the boat still hooked to the trailer. He thought that was what you were supposed to do.
