THE SCATTERS BANDIT HAS STRUCK AGAIN! At least they didn't set your truck on fire or pour sugar in your gas tank . I know of an out of stater that got a live skunk placed in the cab of his truck, so be sure to lock your truck. My advice is to show up at the landing with Leflore county plates or has someone stay at the landing to keep a look out. Someone could write a book about the goings on at the Scatters landing. Hey Ron, come by and see us sometime. My cabin is the last one on the other side of the lake.

Thankfully, I don't hunt there. There are some folks who believe that if someone uses poor etiquette in the woods (setting up too close, following to a hole to discover a spot, etc...) then a "shock and awe" response is appropriate. Of course, I have no idea what went on there cause the last time I went was in '92. I certainly do not condone what happened, but at the same time, I regret that some of us do not have better manners. It is unfortunate that people do not behave better. You kin to Wendell?

This crap is getting absolutely stupid. I don't hunt the place, but we ought to ask for some type of camera to be placed out there. It may not be very effective, but it ought to make a few more knot-heads think before they act.

Hear Hear, I agree, thats stupid that some one is slashing tires. I hope they catch who ever is doing that. Remember it's everyones sport and we should be examples.

Gadwall 2, A camera wouldn't last one day at that landing. LCHFA put a light up at the landing several years ago at our club's expense. Everytime we got it fixed, some a-hole would shoot it out again. Finally we said to hell with it. The year before last someone tore down the sign that dedicated the landing in the name of the late Avery Wood who was Game and Fish Commissioner and President of Leflore Co. Hunting and Fishing Association. Various acts of vandalizum is nothing new at the Scatters landing. The only way to stop it is to have 24 hour security there.

DM, that doesn't surprise me. There is gonna be trouble everywhere at sometime or another. But if the MDWFP can make put on a big sting like the "Operation Delta" deal, they ought to be able to cut out some crap at one boat landing.

I have seen the results from the Scatters bandit also. A couple of years ago, some guys from Alabama had there valve stems removed. I got back to the landing about 11:00am and they were trying to pump their tires and make a run before they went flat again. They could only get a mile or so before they had to start the whole process again. This year at Mathew's Brake, a friend of mine that I graduated high school with had his spare tire stolen and his boat trailer removed from his hitch and pushed into the water at the ramp. What people will do when they get a little mad when someone gets "their" spot on public land.

It is sad to hear about stuff like this, I don't like someone being at the spot that I want to hunt anymore than the next guy but I am not going to let the air out of his tires because of it. I have hunted the Scatters one time this year and the water was so low we didn't have any luck so I haven't been back. From what I did see while I was there, the Scatters looks like a decently sized place with several places to hunt. I did see several people there and we didn't have any problems, that day.

I went by the ramp were I normally hunt yesterday and there were 4 trucks with out of state tags there. Do I like seeing other people out there hunting, no not really, but at the same time I am not going to vandalize their trucks because they are there on a public place that I happen to hunt. To me it is no different than me going to their state and hunting or riding horses on the public land in the state they are from, I have as much right to be there as they do.

Just my thoughts,

Haymaker
