3 days ago i walked into a spot on some public land that i have hunted for about 5 years now that usually starts getting pretty hot around this time of year. This spot in recent years has been very productive...

And as i expected it was tore up with deer sign and couldn't wait to get the right wind to hunt it.... Wind swiched today and off i went. I got in there early around 2 o'clock and got set up. Sat til dark and didn't see a thing and needless to say i was shocked even with the moon/weather being the way it is. As i am packing my stuff up on the ground about to walk out the woods around me start lighting up with flash lights. I counted 4 different sets of lights and i am wondering what is going on here... get back out the the truck and i notice that there is two different vehicles parked right next to mine.

The flashlights finally get to me and these guys all have bows in their hands a i ask what are yall doing, and they say hunting what about you?

i asked did yall not see my truck and they said yeah but its public land and i can hunt in here if i want. I was so pissed i couldn't hardly speak.

long story short they came in on top of me even though my truck is parked in the area...4 of them at that.... i also asked what if i was where you were going and he said "well you would have had to shoot faster than me."

amazing to me how little respect some people have..

well thats how it is these days. I was headed to a public spot were I had seen a good buck from the river and went in and scouted and found scrapes and rubs and hung my climber for the next morning. I walk in the next morning and dont see him so I grab lunch and head back at 2pm and as I was walking in I seen a fella in a tree between me and my spot. He came in off the river by boat and hung a stand. I turned around and walked out. I still respect the next man even though it pizzed me off. Now he had no idea I had been in there before, but thats public land for ya. But yes your right some folks dont have respect. The next week while hunting this spot 3 trucks parked next to mine and turned squirrel dopgs loose in the woods. Now im not big on stickers, but my backglass has a bowtech sticker on it, so I would guess a fella would know that a bow hunter was in here hunting..... Noooo they just let em run and started shooting! There is no more respect anymore.

Black River, were you on the Noxubee Refuge or John Starr? I have had people park by my truck there several times, then have the nerve to walk in on me at deer thirty pm.

That's when if I was first out, and seen trucks I would go back next day a little early and come out a little early, if they were on me again I would check my sight on a tire or two!

That sucks man. It's a shame people do that. Sounds like they thought you were in their honey hole and made it a point to piss you off.

it is pretty crappy. that's why i'm not a big fan of deer hunting public land sometimes. I started parking my truck 300 yards up the road or so and on the opposite side from where i was actually hunting, that way if some dickhead wanted to come in and park by my truck then they could hunt all they wanted right there. Seems like you spend more time trying to out hunt the hunters than the deer. Best of luck to ya, Sorry you gotta deal with these D!cks

I hear ya...At least i can confidently say I have respect for other hunters. i don't even like to hunt close to a buddy at my own deer camp. In fact, on my Mahannah draw hunt my buddy and I scouted a place 1.5 miles off the trail, got there late one morning and saw a 4-wheeler parked where we would have parked. We knew with almost 100% certainty that the guy that beat us there was not all the way back where we wanted to hunt, but we still did not disturb his hunting by walking through the area. "First come first serve." Although it sucked to have to hunt an area we had no clue about that morning, we still saw deer and respected the unwritten code of hunting etiquette. Sorry that happened to ya. A well placed field point in a tire may send the appropriate message. haha...

How do you know they had not already scouted that area out? How are they supposed to know exactly where you are hunting, did you leave a note? That's just part of it, if I know deer are using a area I will take one or two people with me to cover more ground and it's a lot of fun.

ive done the same in the past. its cool to see deer in the stand but sucks when there is a honeyhole you can hunt and they stay on the other side of it. share the wealth. im gonna say since none of yall shot that evening then it wasnt a ruined hunt. if they kiled and you didnt, or vice versa, dont you think the tables could be turned?

im not sayin, but just sayin

So you saying that it is ok to park by someones truck and walk in the same block of woods when that person was there before you? Im sorry but that isn't how it works. How did he know that i wasn't were he wanted to hunt. I got there at two and he came strolling in at 330 and his buddies at 430 so im sorry but that is messed up...

How did he know which way you went? What is the proper parking distance? How many acres should one person be allowed? How do you know they had not scouted that area out? So many questions, I know that if I've done my scouting and know where the deer are I'm hunting there unless I know for sure someone is on that spot and the only way to know for sure is to walk in. If someone is there then I move on to scouted spot number two and so on and so forth. It's no different from duck hunting public land, you try to get your hole but if someone's in it you move on.

OK why ask the man all these questions. I mean put yourself in his spot really. You set up to hunt, parked and got in early enough to were you wouldnt really disturb the deer movements for that afternoon. Then you have some other guys see your vehicle, park beside you and walk in on you and set up. Yea no one shot or anything like that. But it comes with hunters respect. It happens all the time and done to different people. They should have seen his vehicle and had a little respect and just move on farther down or another direction. Yes its public land, but thats the problem with public land now days and state and cities are going to draw hunts. To prevent this from happening. But if each hunter showed a little more respect to the land they hunted and other hunters nothing like this would be forced.

He was simply saying what ticked him off and thats all and saying his .02 on what he thought was right or wrong. I agree with him also.

Think about it in your public hunting area or duck blind. Wouldnt you be pissed if someone came right in AFTER you were and knew you were there and set up 30-40 yards somewhere around you? Same thing goes for deer hunting except harder to judge where someone is.
