Killed two greenheads this morning at the WMA!!!! Shot the wing out from under one and had to run him down. :x Thought my heart was going to explode!!! Had to kneel in the water as the ducks wanted to land 100 yards short of the dekes. Boy were they surprised to see a fat guy laying in there spot 8) Not much time left guys, Good luck. Have a nice day!

Had the same experience earlier in the season. Shot a greenhead and put it on the dry ground behind our blind. I could have sworn it was stone cold dead. Went back to hunting and heard something moving behind me. My duck was making a run for it. Thought I'd just walk over and ring it's neck so I left the gun in the blind but he was no where near dead. He led me on a seventy five run through the brush where I dove at him twice. Finally caught him when my hunting buddy came to see what was going on. He found me on all fours with my hands around that duck's neck gasping for the wind that had been knocked out of me from landing prone on my calls.

He said it was the funniest thing he'd seen in a long time. I am glad he didn't have a camera. That picture would have been e mailed all over the office on Monday morning. :D

Some buddies and I were hunting a flooded creek and one of us shot a hen mallard down. The duck hit up on the bank and all three of us got out of the blind to look for it. It was very slow that morning and one of my buddies had his pup and so we let her hunt for it. While looking in the brush we heard a couple quacks and looked up to see the sussie darting for the water. She got to edge before we could get to her and we thought we would just let the dog get her. But before my buddy could send his dog the sussie dove and that was the last we ever saw of her. Any one of us could have shot her again but we thought it would be got to let the pup get experience with a cripple. We looked around the backs and up and down the creek at the end of the hunt. There is very little cover in this creek so I don't know where she could have gone. Next time I'll shot first and ask questions later!

Yup it is called a death dive. What they do is dive under water and lock there legs around some vegetation. Happened to me last year. I found it though. It was shallow water and and I saw him dive so I looked around and saw the old green under the water. But I got him. :D

A few buddies and i were hunting in Ar-kansas 3 years ago, I had a suzie that was flushed off the main boating channel and dust rolled her but (or so I thought). She hit the watter in a dive and never came back up.

Same week, shot a gadwall that did the same thing.

At my camp it happens ALL the time. Most of our dogs though know how to get them. They will stand on the duck then dive under to get it.

Foot 1, ever heard of a wife? Hard to convince mine that I need a dog after convincing her that I needed a new deer rifle, a new pair of waders, a new muzzel loader, a new set of decoys, a new fishing boat, not to mention all the liscences, stamps, guide fees, hotel rooms, bullets, range time, gas, and time. 8) Maybe next year     Yall have a nice day! 8)
