My back yard has turned into a mud hole from the dogs being out there. Is there anything I can plant/sod now to cover the mud? Its a pretty shady area and probably gets 6 hours of sun or so a day.

thanks guys

With the weather we have been having its going to be tough for anything to grow, currently on the course Im mowing my bentgrass greens once a week and all my Overseed about once every 10 days to 2 weeks.

If I was to try anything it would be some form of Ryegrass but Its going to be tough with these cold nights

Check your soil temps, I'll bet the house you want establish Bermuda seed right now

You can put bermuda sod out right now, but it's dormant and will just lay on top of the ground till spring when it will try to root. In the mean time you'll have to keep ALL foot traffic off of it, including the dogs, and if you get another freeze it will likely damage the root system and make it harder to get it started in the spring. Starting anything from seed right now will be pretty tough as well if you're going to have to keep the dogs on it, but if I were going to seed I would buy straw erosion mats, some call the "excelsior blankets" and cover the area with them and seed over the top of that.

It's not going to grow well in Shady areas.

There's not much you can plant that will stand up to intense dog/kid traffic. If you want a nice lawn, build a pen for the dog.
