Lynch Fool Proof

This used to be "as the name states" the box call that was one of the best off the shelf.

My dad has one that is about 25 years old and is one of the best sounding box calls I have heard. I bought one about a year ago thinking that it would at least be some what comparable to his. Not so much... Frankly, it sux.

He and I were discussing strategy during lunch today and we got on the subject of box calls. Anyway, long story short I got that call out of the truck to see if he could do anything with it and it was confirmed. The mass production of this call has ruined what was a great call company.

I have even gone as far as calling them just a few minutes ago to see what they have to say for themselves, we will see if I get a call back and what kind of customer service they have in place.

Who makes the best out of the box, off the shelf box call? ? What say you Turkey South?

is your old lynch made in Birmingham? Dad has one that is and it hasn't been chalked in 25 years and still sounds great.

depending on the sound you like, I have had good success with the Dixie Darlin made by Heart of Dixie. It can be soft, loud, clean or raspy and has a heck of a gobble on it.

It probably was made in Bham, given its age. The wood has darkened and has an unmatched raspy tone. Much like everything else these days, they don't make 'em like the used to...

I should have gotten with Mr. St. John last year when I had the chance...

I will see if I can find one of those. I have not heard of them before. Thanks

I'll second the woodhaven real hen box. I have the walnut call and it has a good rasp and good volume.
