Took the wife fishing this weekend and we got hammered by the bull gnats. Also quickly found out that she is terribly allergic to the bite. We tried the vanilla extract trick as a repellant, but it didn't work to well. I feel like insect repellant attracts the jokers. Does anyone have any ideas.

Not sure on Bull Gnats, but for the gnats in the south LA marshes, Victoria Secrets lotions, RHINO insect repellent or Cactus Juice insect repellent seem to work great.

I recently moved to Virginia to go to VA Tech and found out that they lack mosquitos but grow gnats by the flocks! Every day I go out to do field research in turfgrass plots and these boogers swarm me by the hundreds. I could use some repellent advice too.

Avon skin so soft bug guard works great. It is the only thing I have found that will keep them away. I fished a tournament on washington saturday and the gnats were bad-had to put reapply a couple of times but the avon stuff kept them off. This is what i get

Amber romance is hands down the best stuff for Gnats. As far as explaining it to your wife I can't really help you there, one of the many reasons I'm not married.

I've had excellent results with "Germ X with Aloe"....and, it's not greasy, either.

Dad and I were fogged by em last Saturday. We didn't pay em much attention because we were catchin fish. On the way home my lower lip swelled up like I had a dip of snuff. Right ear did the same. I'm wearing a head net this weekend.

I got torn up by gnats yesterday afternoon. They laughed at my thermocell!

while the thermocell is great for skeeters, it does not hold the gnats back.
