Just got my kayak! But I will not be able tosneak away until July. I also want to add a thing or two to the yak before I really take her out. I got the Hobie Mirage Revolution. It's light enough to carry and sturdy enough to hold my fat booty. Thought abou tgoing with the Mirage Pro Angler, but figured that would be too bulky and slow. Here's a link to the one I have.

Put in at spillway and took out at LeFluers state park.

I enjoyed the trip (fireworks and all) and am ready to do another one.

I saw that same crew by the erosion prevention wall. I didn't see any kayaks out there though. Also, if I stop on the Pearl it will be where no one can see me from the road....

10.4 miles at a leisurely 3.1mph avg. If you paddled it straight through it would take about 3.5 hours. Including stoppage time on sandbars, drinking time, and trying to light a wet cigarette time, it took us roughly 6 hours. Water was neither cold nor deep, but it was a lot of fun.

Exactly what I was thinking....plenty of cleaner, flatter sand bars not far north of there. I've always wanted to boat or float that section, just don't have a boat or kayak.

I thought it was pretty cold early on.
