International House for a place to stay. Has a great bar as well.

as far as food, you could go up to the garden district and hit up Jacque imo's or mandina's. Those are two cool places.

Jacque imo's is one of the best places uptown to eat hands down. Irene's downtown is awesome also. Hit up a poboy at Johnny's Poboys for lunch. I would just stay at a large hotel on Canal(Westin has great view,Sheraton is also nice)

Hotel Monteleone - must visit the carousel bar downstairs. I stay at this Hotel at least once a month and it's always consistent on the accommodations.

^^^ Second this...or the Royal Sonesta

Across the street is my favorite NO restraunt "Mr. B's". I usually eat there everytime im down there. Also Oceana, Luke(John Besch's place), GW Fins, Nola. Jacque Imo's is cool, but not in the quarter.

Oh yeah...Luke and Restraunt August...both Besch Places and both legit

Dragos in the bottom of the Hilton where Poydras and Canal meet is really good...just doesnt have the french quarter feel

Camelia grill up in the garden district is good too, for bruch. You can get a street car ride up there for like $5 for an all day pass. Think you need to take the St Charles one.

If you want oysters for lunch, skip Acme and go across the street to Felix's. Much better.

The carousel bar at the bottom of the Moneteleon is cool and very laid back compared to the rest of NO

Stayed at the sonesta on memorial weekend, really nice but just one word of advice, if you want any sleep at all don't get a bourbon balcony room or take some good earplugs!

As far as eats go, I would suggest Deanie's, on Iberville. Great barbecue shrimp and the seafood platters are ridiculous. The half Platter was too much for me and I aint no little boy!
