that time of year

Postby RNT » Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:04 am

so its getting to be that time a year in the next month or so for some of our wonderful poachers here in this great state to grit their teeth into our fine velvet bucks, anyone else had any problems with this recently? I have in the past, not saying where or who did it, but there are so many areas with "notorious" poachers I wish just at least one group would get thrown under the jail this year.

Never really thought of it being a problem myself...but maybe I'm just naive.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Yep. In January. Shot a 150 inch off of 22. I think they were from Alabama.

that makes two groups then. There was another group trying to kill them for some buck bounty.

Madison County GW happens to be a friend of mine and too my knowing from words out of his mouth it was only one group and they were caught of Virillia road in Canton. Not sure if i spelt that right or not. It was a group of guys coming out of sebastapool ms and doing it all in early morning hours not spotlighting. They caught one and he brought the others down with him. They took three or four out the big buck contest from that group. Dont know anything about a 150" off 22 and neither does he

same group. I may have my facts mixed up. I've got a picture of the deer they got busted shooting. they set up on them for like 3 weeks before they got them.

Your facts are pretty good Lawdawg. They caught one on his own, and he then spilt the beans after being questioned hard and for several hours. He then tipped Madison Cty SO off along with MDWFP on when the others were supposively going to be in the area. After several failed attempts they finally got the call assuring it was a GO. They had the area covered, heard the shot but didn't see it which is hard to tell if it was or wasn't a hunter at 7 am. They seen then truck numerous times. Finally a SO unit pulled the truck over and checked them out. No deer was in possession and they had no proof. When the truck hit 16 going to yazoo they new it was something fishy since they were going away from there home. Shortly after they set up again the guys returned. They then stopped them and the guys gave in and took them to the deer they shot that morning. From all accounts they killed some very very nice deer.

Where was the deer killed off Hwy 22??

Virillia is right off 22. I didn't want to say the road name, but since it was already mentioned...

I'll load a picture of the deer when i get home.

no, but we find 3-4 dead deer a year in our bean fields in Quitman County. Last year is the 1st year I can remember in several years of not having the spot lighting problem we had in the past.
