Has anyone ever installed a mercury recoil reducer to their shotgun? If so, how much did it help? I got a Stoeger M2000 this past season and it's gotta a little more kick than I prefer. Thanks for the help.

There are several types of reducers - butt stock, barrel / chamber (typically for trap singles and handicap), and magazine. i believe there are some that clamp or bolt to various parts of the gun. I've seen one (of sorts) made of soldering wire and duct tape.......on a Beretta 687. Not the prettiest accessory I've encountered.

Any of them will not only reduce felt recoil somewhat, but will add weight and might alter gun balance. Some of these could be psositives or negatives depending on weight and balance of the gun.

Reducers are more justifiable in target guns used in long target events like a 700-1000 event over 3 days - but I suppose one would help in hunting situations with heavy loads.

The alternative would be to go to a lighter payload and hone shooting skills where you consistently put it on target.

If the gun is slapping your cheekbone, then that could be improper gun fit - which a reducer probably won't cure.

Not familiar with the Stoeger 2000 so I can't offer any suggestions other than assuring that it fits you.

Decelerator pads can help somewhat, too.

Try a limbsaver pad on the back first, much cheaper than the mercury system and you may find that it does the trick for you.

I put the recoild reducer in the butt stock of my SBE. Whileit made my gun a bit heavier, I did notice less barrel jump and a more steady swing through on targets.

recoil reducer? isnt that like saying you wanna ride a bull in the rodeo...one that doenst buck you off?

I got the All Season waders from Macks in a 14 Stout. They were huge. Not very warm but plenty of room for layering. I had to get a pair of neoprene waders this year bc those were actually too big.

I guess I'm just jealous bc my buddy has a SBE II that you can shoot off your forehead and not feel it. I'm not being a "BEARDED CLAM", just a lousy shooter that needs all the help I can get. And for the next counterpoint, I realize I could pay another $1000 and get a SBE II, but times are tough. Knew I'd catch some grief...

I was just messing with ya. In all honesty, "I think" the benelli and the m2000 are both inertia guns and basically based off the same platform. I had the stoger at one time, it does kick like a mule if its not tight on the shoulder.

Maybe add a counter weight to the forearm cap or just practice shooting. the kick shouldn't make much of a difference at your size. Also, a tip I picked up for shooting birds (It may be common knowledge, but I haven't seen it on here)...When birds come in start shooting with bird(s) at the back and swing through the others. Most ppl have the tendency to shoot at the lead birds and thenwait or try to go back to the other birds. That causes your barrel to stop and swing not as smooth. When you start with back bird you can have a steady swing/motion through all birds...
