try the hornady SST, 95g I think
Also their spire tip innerlock
Federal loads some Sierra Game Kings that should also be deadly.

I know a lil fella that shoots the winchester silver ballistic tips in a .243 and he has killed several. They seem to be getting the job done. I like hornady bullets so I'm not knocking any others. I have just seen this lil fella mow them down.

My son and me both use 85 grain Barnes triple shocks loaded by Federal, they ate bad! Can't say enough good about! Always gotten a pass through, he's shot something like 15 deer and we have never found a bullet on the off side! Also had good luck with the Nosler partition 100 grain and hornady light magnums but don't recall the bullet and don't think they make them anymore. I love a .243 for deer!

+1 Hornady SST

Barnes Triple Shocks are supposed to be great but I haven't used them personally.

I used to have a .243 and use the Winchester Ballistic Tips with good results. Very accurate and they got the job done every time.

243 is one bad little round.

i like the plain ole Remington Coreloct's 100 grain, or 80 grain. just about always drop the deer with a shoulder shot. one of my favorite rounds.

i have a cheap-o savage model 110 that my dad bought me when i was 10. that this will rag one bullet hole at a 100 yards, and i don't think the barrel has ever been cleaned.

I have shot the same 243 for over 20 years and I carry two bullets with me.. The 85 Grain BTHP from Federal and the 100 BTSP from Federal.. Anything 200 yards of less and I use the BTHP over 200 I use the 100 BTSP, just for a pass thru shot.. The HP won't pass thru, but you really don't need a blood trail with that little bullet.. They are usually with in 2 yards.. Longest shot I took with the HP was 246 yards on a buck crossing a power line.. When the bullet hit, he dug in, jumped once and fell over dead..

I always had good luck with winchester power points. I shot over 20 deer with that bullet in 100gr and only had one go over 10yds.

Funny how they consider the .243 a youth gun, sure seems like there is a lot of dead deer with the "little old .243"

I used one for years, my son now uses it. I killed a lot of deer with the 100g nosler partitions. They would always go thru and most of them dropped in their tracks. Over the last couple of years my son has been shooting it so I dropped to the 80g bullets. Last year he killed 5 deer with them and I killed another. I can only remember two dropping but all were pass thrus. I was using the 80g ttsx loaded by barnes and am very happy with them.
