Alright folks. The photo contest has been on a downward spiral for the last few months. That being said, Sept. has not one single photo submission. We either need to revamp it or do away with it.


I'm thinking on the revamp we could go to a longer duration than monthly. Maybe bi-monthly, seasonaly, quarterly, etc.



What are yall thoughts or suggestions?

I would like to keep it, revamp if need be, but I enjoy seeing the photos, just not that good at taking them.

We need to get you something that take a pic bigger than 1in x 1.5in.

I hate to see it go because some months it is the only reason I get out and shoot. (haven't had a spare minute this month)

I had some ideas for revamping recently that I thought were great, but they must not have been too great because now I can't remember what they were.

Wonder if it would help if every month was open...no themes?

Let's hear from some of the guys who haven't submitted anything in a while.

My camera is still broke...and so am I.

I really think we will pickup in the next few months when we are all getting out more.

Then we should do something seasonal. It's not that I don't mind doing this every month, but it seems pointless if there is no activity. Then who determines the next month if there is no previous month winner?

Keep everything as is and if there are fewer than 5 entries let the contest extend through the next month

dang i should have entered this month i could have won haha

in not sure what to do but i do know that the reason i dont enter every month has to do with the theme not that it was not a good one but i might not have been able to take a pic that specific for that month

You could do one month wildlife theme and the next a people thing and just keep rotating it . That way it would be general enough people shouldn't have a problem getting pics

I think keeping it month-to-month is fine. My suggestion would be as it relates to themes - either rotating like outdoorsms said or just have no theme at all. I think general themes would encourage people to participate more. I enjoy the contests and I need to get out and take some pictures to submit. I'm certainly no photographer but I want to get better at it. The contests are good motivation. This month has just been too hectic for me. I had some good ones for one of the previous months but I didn't make the deadline so I didn't submit them.

Also maybe posting in the general forum about the contest would make it more visible. I doubt the photography forum gets very many visits compared to the general forum. The contest definitely needs to be in the photography forum but maybe an announcement in the general would help.

I move that we plan to have one next month with a hunting or outdoors theme. Theme maybe to be determined by show of hands out two or three or so options.

So what are we gonna do? Let's not let deer and duck seasons slip by without doing something. Doesn't even have to be a contest but something to motivate everyone to get outside and shoot some pictures and share them.
