I need a couple of one-man blinds to hunt a few spots that are on the property we lease. I like the looks of the put hut duck blinds. Something light and semi easy to move from spot to spot is ideal. I thought I could save some money and see if anybody has an idea or has ever build something similar for less? Layout blind will not work because water is a tad too deep.

I built one last year out of a bulk chemical tote frame. Cut off a few of the horizontal bars in the front for a door. Built a flip top out of pvc. Wrap it in chicken wire and burlap. Stick a 2x10 in it for a bench. Just big enough for me and my dog. Weighs about 75lbs and easy to pull around. Got the frame for free, so I got it all done for less than $50. Sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl if there's no vegetation out in the field to put it in, but if you're on the x it doesn't matter.

a friend and his dad have a couple of the "kick" chairs. the top is controlled by your feet on a t-bar and you are sitting in what looked like a tailgate/camp lounge chair. he said that they tried it without putting the top up in the beginning, but ducks flared. once they used them like they were supposed to be used, they started killing ducks. it has a mesh patch in the top that you look through and when it is "take'em" time, you straighten your legs and the top is canted back out of the way (bend them and the top closes). they're both crack shots and said it took a little getting used to shooting from a reclining position. i'm not sure how deep the water was though.

same basic concept as this, but instead of the "goose" flipping forward it had a top that flipped up and back when you pushed your feet out on the t-bar.

We made some using chicken wire frames. They basically wrap around a lawn char with enough room to stand up and shoot. The cordura lining breaks the wind. They are low and deadly.

he said they got them at the co-op about 5 years ago and i couldn't find anybody that remembers the name (they remember the blind, but not the name or who made it). they most likely aren't making them anymore in favor of this type:

i can't find it but someone posted a link to a beaver hut looking blind that was for deeper water, on here a while back. it looked pretty good imo.. donia or one of the other guys might be able to help us out in finding the thread.

they were like 400 bucks.
