Kids under 13 243 because of the low kick. Over 13 243, 260, and 7-08 are all good choices. Elk I would use a 7mm. They have plenty of power and flat shooting which the 300 would be an equal choice but more recoil. Many rounds for whitetail just depends on your terrain. I like the 243 270wby 7mm and 35 wheelen just depends on the place I am hunting.

I think I would have to go with

7mm08 - Ballistically equal to the 270 with less recoil..
223 - For kids under 13.
243 - Women and youth over 13 - Way more than enough for deer and the smaller rifles, less report and recoil make it fun to shoot.

Kids under 13...well it kinda depends on the kid. Some kids will be able to handle a 7mm-08 at that age my oldest daughter who is 12 handles it just fine, but my son who is 9 now might not handle it as well. She (the 12 yr old) killed her first deer with a .308 (managed recoil) when she was 8 yrs old. They've also both killed deer with the .243, and the oldest has killed hogs with the 7mm-08. So, that being said, I'd start the child off at a younger age with the .243, then as they grow and get more comfortable with shooting step them up to a 7mm-08 and it will be a caliber they can shoot from then on. I've had the new 7mm-08 for less than a year now and have killed 1 hog and 2 deer, the 2 deer were DRT and the hog only went 3-5 yards. The 7mm-08 also has managed recoil loads that you could purchase and start younger kids out on to save having to buy different guns...just another thought.

Im biased to the 30-30 just cause my brothers and I all shot one growing up. I think every kid (or adult) likes to shoot a lever action too. Great gun and plenty of power.

7mm - 08 will work for both applications. Just pick the right load.

Under 13 - 243 or 222/3.

Elk in open country at over 300yds - 7mm rem mag or 300win mag.

For Elk .300 RUM. it'll reach out there and lay em down
For Deer 7mag 139 grain BoatTailSpirePoint (i've never had one take another step with that bullet)
Women.....25.06 or 7mm08 Either in Remington CoreLok
Kids 243 or 7-08 (i'm leaning away from the 243......seen too many in the last couple of years still run away with even a decent shot in the vitals)
