"The Stash"...

Had this forwarded to me as a result of 'Movember'...the new yearly excuse to grow a mustache in honor of prostate awareness. (as an aside, mustaches are hilariously weird to me). It is a flyfising based article, but could just as easily be a duck hunting article. Who here sports a stash and/or who is willing to for duck season? It could be a Mississipi method of separating ourselves from Albanians, Louisianans and Ar-kansans (i.e., you see a group of hunters all rocking mustaches in the Blue & White or at Abe's...you know they bear the seal of the Great State of Mississippi on their birth certificates).
Anyway...enjoy.

A sampler...
It takes a certain swagger to pull off a good mustache. Some guys just have it: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Jose Wejebe. And ’staches on Norris, Bronson, Chuck Furimsky, and the Marlboro Man say “badarse” like no others. Hall-of-fame pitcher and fisher “Goose” Gossage carries an enviable upper-lip umbrella, as does Dr. Phil—meaty enough to inspire any preadolescent to sprout whiskers and start wearing Speed Stick—or give out relationship advice.

Thats awesome! I grow a beard and try to keep it from October1 until Jan31. After that I gradually get rid of it....a stache is in the works for this year.

I might grow one for the heck of it after reading this little article...I can't grow one like Magnum PI, but it just seems right given the time of year nevertheless.
The question is do you keep it corner to corner (like a plumber or a cop), handlebar or some twist variation?
There are a lot of old school duck hunting topics on this board. I'm willing to bet that from the 1950s through the 1980s, many a mustache graced the scatters and such places.

My "stash" was born in the summer of 1982 while working on a survey crew on the Mighty Missip!
Had to grow one for survival purposes. Working with ex cons, boat operators, and river rats i grew one quick so that "college boy" wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb. I kinda got use to it and me and stash have been tight every since. Of course stash has been joined by his best bud "beard".
Grow em if ya got em.

I'm all about a stach during duck season!!! My wife hates it though. I get so attached to it I don't want to shave it off come February

That brings back a lot of memories. My dad was a boat pilot in that same time frame for the survey crews. He sported some type of mustache or goatee since I can remember!
I'm sure if you were working through college on the survey crew you got your share and couple more shares of the "K" blade!!!
I remember going out there when I was young and moving the boat from one place to another over the weekend. Dad would let me drive and he would go lay down at the table....talk about scary looking back... a 10 year old at the controls of a 40 or 50 foot boat wide open in the river! HA! ...glad there wasn't more traffic then like there is now!

I have a beard now. I'm 1 bud heavy and a bad idea away from Magnum PI.

My "stache" was a pretty poor example. At the ripe age of 33, I shared the prize for "Worst Stache (Prepubescent)".
Here are a couple of good ones from UMMC.
