Where are the ducks????????

I hunt in Tunica MS in a flooded bean field and have only killed 5 teal. So does anybody know where the ducks are. I know there is way to much water but whats up with the report of the duck population being up. If they say the population is up and the breeding grounds are good then why aren't we seeing any ducks in the south. I personally think the MS flyway has moved west some towards Little Rock Arkansas. Buddy of mine hunts in Oklahoma and they have been limiting out on green heads every time they go.

1) ducks are mostly up north
2)most of the ducks are either on the river or spread way too thin with all the water
3)there is no little rock flyway
4)the argument that birds have left the ms flyway and moved to the central has been around for a while. This dry year I would think you could kill limits on a farm tank
5) I'm guessing. You are 17 and would benefit from frequenting the site more and learnIng to read a few post on the page before asking such junior varsity questions

Might need to look into getting a different spot in Tunica. There are birds getting killed all over the county. Just because they're not in front of you doesn't mean they aren't around.

Well said GHGR....it's too bad some folks can't just answer well meant questions in the spirit they were asked. Not everyone is a well seasoned guru......and we were all rookies at one time. Neil

The ducks generally stay along the 'freeze' line - which fluxuates. I'm not talking about the 'freeze line' temperature-wise........but where the water sources are frozen.
It usually takes about 5 days of locked-up water sources for ducks to move-on. As they get pushed Southward by encroaching ice and snow on their food sources, they will remain in the lower areas until they get pressured - then they may return to familiar ground and/or larger concentrations farther North during the thaw cycle. IMO
You could also see a bit of a lateral migration depending on what direction fronts come from. Most of the fronts we've gotten so far have been from the West - we need some from the North.......like Northwest Territories, North - what they call and Alberta Clipper.
Look at the national temperature forecast maps and wherever the temperature stays in the low 20's for several days, with highs no more than 36.......that's where the ducks usually are, in my experience.

Heck its just freezing at the canada/usa border
Everything below it showed mid 40's and high when you get farther down.
Guess the 3 straight days of 60 + degrees aint gonna help around here

+1 amen...im all for givin a topwater a hard time, mainly cause it happened to me when I was new around here and didnt know the "rules". Im still new at duck hunting and could stand to learn all I can from this place and all the people that know how to hunt thats kind enough to let me tag along on hunts. I can also understand the no discussion on WMA's but a response like that because some asked a question about duck hunting on a duck hunting forum....COME ON MAN!!!

Dear Diary,
Today, I happened upon an internet duck board with no sense of humor...
It sucked.
