the more accurate statement is "you'll never kill 180 class if you shoot immature deer."
Some deer (most, actually) are gonna top out less than 150. so pass them or not, he's never gonna be 180.
just saying

To sucessfully pass 150's and hope to grow bigger deer you gotta have a whole crapload of land(thousands of acres), or have a high fence. I dont care what your neighbors say......they are shooting the deer you pass on.

I will never get to even see a 180 deer in the wild. Sounds like we are in the same boat.

I've only passed one 150+" deer up in my life and it wasn't by choice entirely. He is close to 185 this year though. He put on close to 25" since last year. I think he's only 4.5 to top that off. I haven't seen him on the hoof yet this year, but saw him 3x last year. I have over 2000 pics of him since August. only 2 daytime pics.
a 180" deer will make you lose lots of sleep and damn near get a divorce in the meantime. I have been spending all my spare time in the delta hunting him

Thats why I shoot them at 125, then there is no debate!
I do know this for a fact. He will never get bigger than the day you shoot him. FACT!

My rule is shoot 4.5 year old deer and older. Don't care how big he is, at 3.5 you got to let him go

Chad Dacus comes out to our camp each year and gives us an update on all the deer we shot thru the DMAP program.. Just about 90% of all of the bucks in our soil region (South Rankin/North Simpson county) are going to have 14" inside spread at 3.5 years old. That is just outside the ears..
