I have water leaking under my levee. The beavers cut a hole underneath. I have put dirt up against the levee but it still seems to seep through. I was told to lay cement board on the ground and when it gets wet it will harden and keep water from going through. Anybody have any luck with that? Too late to try to dig out with backhoe and refill. Any other ideas? THANKS

On the outside or inside of levee?

Can you find the beaver cut under the water and use a backhoe to pack it with the heaviest clay you can find?

What kind of levee are we talking about? A rice dike, a raised turn road, or a beaver dam type ditch plug? Is it around a structure? Might try a bag of bentonite, but it's gonna be mighty tough to stop a leak in a levee without digging it out and repacking.

It is more of a raised turnrow but has trees grown up on it. It is not near the riser but there is no telling how many holes and tunnels they have under the levee right there. I may try the bentonite and add some dirt. Where can I buy it around Oxford or Batesville?

Not to dispute your word but it's pretty likely that the trees on the levee are the real problem. We've had some old ponds start to leak where the root systems allow water to seep thru. Usually on a dead tree. If you end up digging I would remove all the trees and poison any that try to come up afterward. Good luck with it.

I have seen trees cause the problems on dams before. I agree that is usually because of a dead tree.

Thanks for the help. That doesn't sound too good. Maybe we can pinpoint the dead trees and dig out and refill before next season.
