next weekend looks like it could be the best of the season if the long range forcast doesn"t change. Fingers crossed!

Usually gets real good the last two weekends. Just enough to get you worked up for the next season

If it was Sunday I could have showed you 3000 ducks sitting on a wma in Mississippi. On freelance huntable ground. As of Monday morning 2996 had left. Unreal.
These are different times for a duck. No longer do I believe in letting them stay there and build. If you got em, shoot em. The grass is always greener in another pasture for a duck; where he doesn't have to worry about getting shot at.
And never insist on bringing decoys while marinated on Heinekens. I thank my Rolling Thunder Colt 45 for that Sunday morning limit. Damn sure wasn't the decoy spread.

what the grim reaper says is true--hunting has changed. you don't have the luxury to "let 'em" build". If you have killable ducks, you had better kill 'em or they will be gone. that is to me one of the saddest parts of how hunting has changed, it used to be if you "had ducks" you had them for some days, and if you were careful, you could get a couple weekends out of them or several days. Now, they are here and gone, or they are eating at night, we are turning them into different creatures, and the weather doesn't help a bit.

Talked to my friend up in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada today. 46 degrees and sunny. Not a bit of snow left. Crazy year.
It would be nice if this cold snap in the next few days makes a difference, but my bet is we won't see the ducks, or at least mallards, in large numbers until youth weekend.
I'll be all for a bootlip beat down this weekend if we even have any of those.
