Re: Hawaii
For what it is worth, it is worth the extra $$ to fly first class. My wife and I made the trip and it is too long flying coach. I was on the phone midflight trying to upgrade to first class.
We went last year, and flew coach. We also flew the furthest you can get in getting there. ATL-HNL was 9 ...

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foots
the weight doesn't have anything to do with the stability of it.
Weight has a LOT to do with stability. Not everything, but it is a big piece. Having hunted and fished out of canoes and kayaks a significant amount, light boats (though fantastic for carrying and shallow draft) are twitchy. They ...

Burris makes good scopes in that price range as well.

Re: New Duck Blind
I found another great option for brushing blinds. Using this stuff called EZ-fence by Volm. It's sold by Menards (you can buy it from them online). It comes in dark green and comes in 4'x50' rolls. You can wrap it around your blind/boat blind and then thread or tie brush to it. Not that yours looks ...

Re: Inshore Snapper?
When you said inshore, I thought you were talking about in the bay. What you are doing is pretty much what they do around the 30A area of Florida east of Destin. You don't need to go much over a couple miles to near shore wrecks to find red snapper. Sounds like a good problem to have if you can find ...

Re: Talk me into or out of a 2500HD
I had a 2001 Duramax (hence why I chose my handle on the site) and loved it. That was before cats, egr's, and restrictive exhausts. I got 19mpg stock, and with tuner around 21mpg avg (highest was 25mpg on a tank). The new trucks have so many restrictions, on top of ultra low sulfur diesel, fuel ...

Re: Catfish bait
I found out rainbow trout works pretty awesome. I kept the heads off a few I caught and kept and they worked like a charm.
However, my favorite bait has always been frozen whole shrimp. Or at least with shell on. Cheap bag from the grocery store works just fine. I don't fish for catfish more than ...

As an Arkansas resident, I can tell you she has 0.0% chance of winning her home state. Though the same can basically be said about Trump.Florida Boy wrote:Question? Do you think the average Arkansas resident is proud or ashamed that the Clinton's are from there?

Not only will he protect his home, but he will talk smack afterwords about doing it.
That was funny. "Started crying...like a little baby."

Re: Flatback aluminum pirogue
I still miss my 15' Highsider Gheenoe. That thing was the tits. Although I'm not sure how often I'd use it now with an 1860 G3, I'm sure I'd get some use out of it. I got mine for a hell of a deal for $800 boat, trailer, and 6hp motor. And it was in great shape. Just have to scour Craigslist and be ...

Re: Monster Striper on the fly
Congrats! What type of fly?
It was a small "game changer" type fly I made. A traditional game changer is 5-6" long, but with dense synthetic fibers. I made mine smaller (about 3-4") much more sparse with shlappen feathers and polar dub. It moved great, was easy to cast, but I was afraid the the ...

Monster Striper on the fly
Well I've now caught stripers in 3 states. All on a fly rod. I moved to Little Rock 4 months ago, and have been on a mission to figure out how to catch them on a fly in one of the several lakes here that has them in the state. I've spoken to as many people as I can find who at least know of someone ...

Re: Orange Beach Bay/inshore fishing charter/guide help
I'd drive over to Gulf Breeze, FL. Go with Baz Yelverton. Fly fishing focused, but also fished conventional. No bait. Catch and release only except for spanish macks. You don't need a fishing license in Florida either when fishing with a guide, so that'll save you a few bucks. He is top notch. He ...
