My point is your don't know the situation either. We were given no info other than that. What if the scap metal was under your carport or your homes air conditioner? Do you live in the same world as me? Have you watched the news lately? People will shoot you over $5 that's in your pocket. Do I want to run someone down and shoot them? No. If he stole my property and I was running him down to get it back, and he starts shooting at me, then am I not supposed to shoot back? Also, don't patronize me and my life. You live your life as you see fit and I'll do the same but a word to the wise, don't break in my place or you could be hurt or you might meet Jesus face to face

Also, make sure you have all the facts about a story because there are always unforeseen things that happen and always untold stuff too

Hard to tell what would be done with the info given....BUT you can be assured the situation is a bad one and it will be twisted every direction but the right one most likely with the NAACP getting involved.....

I guess I have a tough outlook on theives. When I was 18 me and two other buddies were robbed at gun point of all of our belongings in downtown Jafrica. Since that day, I feel differently than most people do about theives. If your willing to steal from someone, then who knows what you are capable of doing. After that experience I guess I just don't feel sorry for stupidity.

Also, I was sitting in the middle of the truck and the gun was held between MY EYES the whole time. Not the other two guys. Until you have been there, don't talk to me about right and wrong.

Im not saying it was right to run anybody down and kill them but if you don't do something then they'll be back tomorrow. If I would have had a gun the night we were robbed I would have went after that guy and there is no doubt in my life I would have tried to kill him. And that is exactly what he deserves!

In today's world I trust mo outsiders except friends and family. When it comes to my property and family I'll do what it takes to protect both. I don't know about runnin somebody down off of my property and shootin them. But i live by a rule when it comes to my family and home. Its
KILL OR BE KILLED..... simple

Don't know all of the details but these guys should have just called the sheriff instead of asking him to turn himself in. Now once he shot at them they did what they had to do but I don't think I would have chased him after he left my property. Now if you are on my property stealing and I catch you, there will be a gun in your face and if you are endangering my family I will do what I need to do. I am not saying to run people down but if thieves start catching some lead while in peoples houses then a few of them may start thinking twice before doing it. I think if they are in your house you should be able to shoot first and ask questions later, that is too close for comfort you never know what they may do.

I'm not chasing anyone down if they are leaving the scene. To many bad things can happen in that situation....

This is the local online news report.
"Attala Sheriff William Lee tells Boswell Media that Barry Ware a 42 year old W/M and Frankie Barber a 52 year old W/M have been charged with Murder in the weekend shooting death of 24 year old Cedric Montae Sharkey in Sallis. Sheriff Lee said that prior to the incident Barber had noticed that scrap metal was missing from his property. Someone told Barber that they had seen a car that met the description of Sharkeys near his property. Barber and Ware confronted Sharkey at his mother’s home and Sharkey, Barber and Ware all agreed to take the matter to the Attala Co. Sheriffs office. In Route Sharkey went a different direction, this led to a chase by Barber and Ware. Sharkey wrecked his 2002 white Mercury Grand Marquis on AR 4106 and then fled on foot. Barber and Ware gave chase into the woods. A witness said they heard shots fired in the woods. Deputy Tim Nail arrived on the scene and found Sharkey’s body with wounds to the chest. Attala County Coroner Sam Bell pronounced Sharkey dead at the scene. A third person was in the truck, but Sheriff Lee says they were not charged, since they never left the truck during incident. More than 125 people crowded into New St. James Church of Christ Monday night to find out more about the investigation. Attala County's Sheriff William Lee answered questions from those in attendance. Clergy officiating the meeting asked law enforcement for fairness in solving this crime and bringing all involved in the murder to justice. The Sheriff said the FBI would be consulted to determine if the fatal shooting constitutes a hate crime."

so they didn't even catch him on their property. they went to his house and confronted him!!??

'''''Barber was told by a caller that a car resembling Sharkey’s had been seen at his property.

Following the report, Barber and Ware went to the house where Sharkey was and confronted him.

The three agreed to go to the Attala County Sheriff’s Department to talk. En route, Sharkey apparently changed his mind and went in a different direction.''''''

that kinda blows the whole 'protecting my property' story outta the water...

poor decisions i'm afraid

doesn't say if he ever admitted guilt, but even if he did, you don't have to chase him....dial 911 and let the professionals handle it..jmo

Yeah if thats truely the case, then they are in deep schit.

On another note, as vigilante and heinous as it sounds, maybe some of these crackheads and thieves will get the message that the good, law abiding folks are getting tired of this and not afraid of them anymore and are willing to take matters into their own hands. Not saying what they did was correct in todays PC times, but to be honest, back in the old days when crime wasnt as rampant as today, if you stole from me, it was perfectly acceptable to go get you, wherever you may be, and do what had to be done. Maybe "THEY" will get the message.

I was using my phone when I wrote the first statement, so let me explain to the best of my knowledge today after getting some details last night. They have been getting robbed in the past and they finally caught the guy, and asked him to get in his car and drive to the Sheriff dept and turn his self in. Well he agreed and left the scene and once he got on the road, he fled. They gave chase and then the guy wrecked and supposedly shot at them and they fired back in self defense.

If they had plans on killing the guy in cold blood why not do it when they caught him red handed in the back of a pasture, instead of chasing him down to do it... don't make sense to me.

Lastly I hope to God I never have to take another life, and no I don't agree that a man should die if he is caught stealing scrap metal on your property as long as its not endangering your family. Now if they break in my home, two to the chest and one to the head.

They should have just called the law and let the guy leave in peace and let them sort it out, now do I believe in it??? NO! I think there are too many things that can happen once you take care of it yourself in that situation and the NAACP is involved and now I hear of rumors of the KKK getting involved. That will just make the situation worse IMO and only make the two white men being accused look even worse.

I pray for both families in the situation and hope that this can be resolved as painlessly as possible, but looks like that will not be the case.

I agree fully. That was a job for the sheriff and not those guys

The way the news article reads these guys should have used half of their brain cells and let the law run its course. I can understand the going to guys house and asking him to go to Sherriffs office, but when he fled they should have left it at that and went to the police.

Ok I stand corrected on the matter of catching him red handed on there property. From the report they confronted him at his mothers home.

That changes everything now.
